Mission, Vision & Values

The following statements shape and direct our church life together.

Statement of Beliefs

The statement of beliefs outlines the core beliefs that unite us as a congregation. It embodies the conviction that God is the creator and sustainer of all life, and so is worthy of our service and worship. All the other strategic statements flow from these beliefs, which are found in our constitution.

  • The Unity of the Godhead and the Trinity of Persons therein
  • The sinfulness of Man
  • The Deity of Jesus Christ
  • His Atonement for the Sin of Man
  • The Need of the Holy Spirit for Conversion
  • The Divine Inspiration of the Scriptures
  • The Resurrection of the Dead
  • The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Rewards and Punishments in a Future State
  • The Baptism of Believers only by Immersion

Our Mission

Our mission explains why we exist. It’s the goal, the target, why we do what we do.

Guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to glorify God by living as Jesus’ followers and witnesses.

Our Vision

Our vision is a picture of what it will look like if we are achieving our mission. It’s what we want to see our community being and doing.

Our vision is of a Spirit-filled, Christ-centred community where people of all ages and nations are learning the good news; sharing the good news; loving people both in and beyond our community; depending on God; and worshipping Him.

Our Values

Our values are what guide our behaviour as we go about achieving our mission. Whilst we recognise there are any number of biblical values, and all of them are important for believers, we have chosen to highlight the following as particularly important for guiding our community life together.

The Bible

We value God’s authoritative Word: its proper teaching, and proper application.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” – 2 Timothy 3:16

Love

In response to God’s love for us, we love Him and are committed to love all people.

“The most important commandment,” answered Jesus, “is this… Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’” – Mark 12:29-31

Prayer

Both individually and as a church, we build our lives on prayer.

“Pray continually” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Growth

We become more like Jesus and strive to help others to do the same.

“From Christ the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” – Ephesians 4:16

Community

We create a safe and welcoming community for all people.

“Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” – Hebrews 13:1-2

Outreach

We share God’s love with as many people as possible, both locally and elsewhere.

“And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” – Mark 16:15

Generosity

We are generous with the time, talents and resources God has given us.

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.” – 1 Peter 4:10-11
