Sunday 27-Sep-2020

It’s great to have you join with us today for our online service of worship. We trust that the Lord will minister to you as you worship Him today.
If you are new to this format, the idea is to progressively scroll down this page and join with us as we worship our God together.
Click here for more details (opens in a new tab).

We meet in person each Sunday at 10am and we endeavour to get the online version available by 3pm the same day. If you are in Sydney Australia we would love for you to join with us in person if you are comfortable in doing that at this time.
We meet at 23 Conder St Burwood NSW.

Communion next Sunday

Next Sunday we will be celebrating the Lords Supper together while apart. Please remember to gather the elements for communion, some bread / cracker / biscuit to represent Christ’s body that was broken for us and juice to represent the blood shed to pay the penalty for our sins.

Morning tea

We will continue to not have morning tea after our morning service for the month of October.
While we are not allowed to mingle after church in the church, perhaps you could invite some people home or join with them for lunch at a café or a restaurant.

A time to mourn

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2)
This week our brother Lucas Uhlman was called home to be with his Lord after a drawn out battle with cancer. Lucas was the former pastor at Bega Baptist and also a former intern at our church. Please pray for his wife Rachel and the two boys Samuel and Timothy.

A time to rejoice

Anne Dickson and Joel Jacob are getting married next Saturday 3-Oct-2020. They would appreciate your prayers as the day approaches. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions only invited guests can attend in person. Details of the livestream are available in this week’s online bulletin.

English classes resume

After a considerable break due to COVID-19, English classes will resume this coming Wednesday 10am-noon. Tom will be teaching the class and Ellen will be assisting. Please pray for this ministry.

Visiting speakers for October

Pastor Dilan will not be preaching during the month of October to release him to focus on his studies. Guest speakers have been arranged for the Sunday services.

Daylight saving

Daylight saving starts next Sunday morning 4-Oct-2020. Please remember to set your clocks forward one hour before going to bed next Saturday night.

If you don’t have access to an eft arrangement and would like to contribute to the church, please speak to Pastor Dilan or the treasurer.

If you are new to our church there is no expectation of you giving, but should you choose to do so it would be gratefully received.

You can now give anonymously through iGive.

Windscreen wipers and sin

When mud splatters your windshield and you temporarily lose sight of the road and start to swerve in anxiety, instinctively you turn on your wipers and squirt your windshield washer. If you just turn on the wipers, its going to scrape over the mud and it could even make it even more messy. The wipers work well when you squirt washer fluid onto the windscreen.

As we journey in Christian life, sin often disrupts us, unsettles us and causes us to slow down. In times like these Paul writes to the Thessalonian church that we have two great tools to help us get back on track – the “Holy Spirit” and the “Truth” (2 Thessalonians 2:13). We must constantly remind ourselves of God’s truths and his promises as we deal with sin. At the same time we must not forget the work of the Holy Spirit, helping us to repent and turn to God. As we read the promises of God we must also take time to pray for the help of his Spirit.

Without the softening work of the Holy Spirit, the wipers of the word just scrape over the blinding clumps of sin on the windshield.
